Sahni contested on 11 seats in 2020

In the 2020 elections, the BJP won 121 seats within the NDA. Of these, the BJP gave 11 seats to Mukesh Sahni's party. These 11 seats were Brahmapur, Bochahan, Gaura Bauram, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Sugauli, Madhubani, Keoti, Sahibganj, Balrampur, Alinagar, and Baniapur. Mukesh Sahni himself contested from Simri Bakhtiyarpur in Saharsa district but lost to RJD's Yusuf Salahuddin. 

Suddenly changed sides in 2020

Recalling the 2020 election year, Mukesh Sahni abruptly defected from the Grand Alliance to the NDA. When the Grand Alliance's parliamentary panel was held and his party was denied a single seat, he stormed out, claiming he had been stabbed in the back. He subsequently joined the NDA. 

Became a minister in the government after becoming an MLC

In 2020, four of Mukesh Sahni's candidates won: Musafir Paswan from Bochahan, Swarna Singh from Gaura Bauram, Mishri Lal Yadav from Alinagar, and Rajkumar Singh from Sahibganj. At that time, Mukesh Sahni was made an MLC by the BJP and appointed Minister of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.
