News Topical, Digital Desk : Some people show up at weddings uninvited. It's important to be cautious of these people. A similar case has come to light in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, where a woman, posing as a relative, stole lakhs of rupees from a wedding.

In Bengaluru, a 46-year-old woman named Revathi committed a similar crime. She is a resident of KR Puram in Udayanagar. Revathi was previously a guest lecturer, but she has committed several such crimes.

The police have taken this woman into custody for 12 days. They also recovered 262 grams of gold and ₹3.6 million in cash from her. Revathi had left her job as a lecturer a few years ago to become a thief.

How did the truth come out?

A resident of Manjunatha Nagar filed a complaint of theft. The incident came to light when the girl, along with her mother, attended a wedding in Basavanagudi on November 23.

The girl and her mother had found a bag containing a 32-gram gold chain and a fake necklace in a room. The gold chain was worth approximately three lakh rupees. However, they later discovered that the chain and the fake necklace were missing from the room.

Following an investigation, Revathi was detained at her home on December 1st. During police interrogation, Revathi confessed to the crime. She also told police she had committed similar thefts in two other districts of Basavanagudi.
