News Topical, Digital Desk : New Year's Eve brought a fine of Rs 1 lakh for an engineering student from Kerala. Bengaluru transport officials slapped a hefty fine of Rs 1.1 lakh on the youth for driving an illegally modified car that spewed flames on the city roads.

A young man from Kannur district purchased an old 2002 Honda City for ₹70,000 and made illegal modifications to it. He transformed the car into a noisy and fire-breathing vehicle. This car, seen running on the streets of Bengaluru, even caught the attention of the police.

Police issued a challan of Rs 1 lakh

This student from Kerala had come to Bengaluru for a New Year's Eve party. He filmed himself performing dangerous stunts and posted them on social media. Seeing the videos, people filed a police complaint.

Giving details of the case, the police said, "The young man had come to Bengaluru to celebrate New Year's with friends and was constantly posting photos and videos of the car. The videos showed excessive noise from the vehicle, flames shooting from the exhaust, and dangerous stunts, which even surprised bystanders."

The official said, "We found that the car had undergone extensive illegal modifications. These violations carry heavy fines, which only the RTO has the authority to impose. Following a police report, the Yelahanka RTO inspected the vehicle and imposed a fine that exceeded the car's value. The car owner paid the fine and the vehicle was released. The young man was also warned not to repeat such acts in the future."
