The dancer's name is Sohila Tarek Hassan Haggag, but she is famous on Instagram as Linda Martino. She has 22 lakh followers on Instagram. Martino was born in Egypt, but she also has Italian citizenship.

Martino is accused of wearing scantily clad clothes, exposing her body parts and using erotic techniques in her dance videos. She was arrested on June 22 at Cairo International Airport.

Martino married an Italian man. But she later separated from him. Martino has dual citizenship, but she returned to Egypt due to having a successful profession. The Italian Embassy in Cairo has demanded her release and has asked for permission to meet her.

New rules have been implemented in Egypt

• Martino is expected to spend up to two weeks in prison. Egypt has recently imposed stricter rules on what it considers morally questionable practices. Five other belly dancers have been arrested on morality-related charges.
• Under the new rules, violating the law on the internet can result in a minimum of two years in prison and a fine of up to 300,000 Egyptian pounds. Human rights organizations have criticized such cases.
