News Topical, Digital Desk : While the Uttar Pradesh government boasts of Antyodaya (the upliftment of the lowest rung of the ladder), Bharwalia, also known as Tikuiya, a village in the Chakia Gram Panchayat of Basti's Kudraha block, tells the story of the government system's insensitivity. Here, the light of development dies out on the outskirts of the village. Ramfer's family, a resident of the village, is still forced to live in an era that society has left behind.

When the officials finally come out of their AC offices, they will have to face such a reality; a family is forced to live in a Stone Age system; the daughter-in-law of the family has left the house because her in-laws' house neither has a toilet nor a permanent house.

The daughter-in-law has not come home for a year

Ramfer's family, living in extreme poverty and penury, is so dire that his daughter-in-law has been sheltering at her parents' home with their two children for the past year. Ramfer is barely able to support his family through hard labor. Ramfer's daughter-in-law clearly states that living with children in a home without a solid roof, electricity, or a toilet to protect their dignity is impossible.

Even after 10 years of marriage, no government programs have reached this family. Ramfer's son, now married, is still living without a family.

Fear of a kutcha house accident

Ramfer's wife, Malti Devi, shared her anguish, explaining that the dilapidated mud walls and thatched roof could lead to a major disaster. During the rainy season , water drips from the roof, and they resort to using plastic sheets to protect themselves. During storms, the entire family lives in fear of the roof blowing away. Even today, they are forced to burn a kerosene lamp to ward off the darkness of the night.

Despite having Antyodaya card, no relief was received.

Surprisingly, Ramfer holds an Antyodaya ration card, which is below the extreme poverty line. According to the rules, such families should receive government housing on priority, but the reality here is the opposite. Ramfer alleges that the MNREGA scheme in the village exists only on paper. They haven't found any work in years, leaving this family of seven struggling to make ends meet, wandering from door to door seeking daily wages.

Questions are being raised on block officials

Conscious villagers say that depriving this family of eligible benefits is a gross negligence on the part of the local administration and the Gram Panchayat. Can't the block officials see the family's plight? The villagers have demanded that the District Magistrate investigate the matter and immediately provide the affected family with a Prime Minister's Housing Scheme, an electricity connection, and a toilet.

Officials assured action

When Project Director Rajesh Jaiswal was talked to about this, he said that he was not aware of the incident, you give the details, after finding out, every possible help will be provided to the family, but first he has to get information about the truth of this family, he will send the block officials to the spot and will get information about the family, then appropriate action will be taken.
