News Topical, Digital Desk : The company has announced compensation for the deceased and injured in the Vedanta Power Plant accident in Chhattisgarh's Sakti district. According to reports, the families of those killed in the accident will receive financial assistance of ₹3.5 million (US$3.5 million). Those seriously injured will receive compensation of up to ₹1.5 million (US$1.5 million).
In addition, a permanent job has been promised to a family member of the deceased. This announcement is expected to bring some relief to the affected families, although local residents are demanding a fair investigation and strict action against those responsible. It is known that a massive boiler blast occurred at the power plant on Tuesday.
Around 50 people were present in the plant at the time of the accident.
Fourteen workers lost their lives. Thirty-two workers were also injured in this horrific accident, six of whom are fighting for their lives on ventilators. He described the incident as a personal loss.
While the chairman is calling it a family tragedy, Congress General Secretary Kanhaiya Agarwal has directly blamed the incident on management negligence. Eyewitnesses say safety standards at the plant were ignored. Furthermore, the blast was so powerful that the workers didn't even have a chance to recover.
Electricity is produced at the Vedanta plant in Sakti.
Located in Sakti district, the Vedanta Power Plant primarily produces electricity. The plant uses coal to generate electricity, which is used to power the surrounding industrial area and the grid. The plant processes coal, operates a boiler, and generates electricity through a turbine.
