News Topical, Digital Desk : Saudi Arabia and the United States are both moving toward a new defense chapter. Donald Trump is considered very close to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia expressed interest in purchasing F-35s directly from Trump. On Friday, Trump indicated that he was considering agreeing to a deal to supply Lockheed Martin-built F-35 stealth fighters to Saudi Arabia.

In fact, US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that Saudi Arabia wants to buy a lot of planes. “I'm looking into it. They've asked me to look into it. They want to buy 35 planes - but Saudi Arabia actually wants to buy a lot more fighter jets than that.”

Economic and defense agreements are expected to be signed.

The US administration is considering a request from Saudi Arabia to buy 48 F-35s. This potential sale comes as Trump plans to host Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House next week, where they are expected to sign economic and defense agreements.

Saudi Arabia to join Braham Agreement...

Asked about the conversation, Trump told reporters that "this is more than a meeting, we're honoring Saudi Arabia." He reiterated that he hoped Saudi Arabia would soon join the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and Muslim-majority countries.

Riyadh has opposed such a move in the absence of agreement on a roadmap for Palestinian statehood. A Pentagon intelligence report has raised concerns over a potential F-35 deal and warned that China could acquire the aircraft's technology if the sale goes ahead, the New York Times reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the assessment.
