News Topical, Digital Desk : Sitapur Water Tank Collapsed: The newly constructed water tank in Chunka village panchayat of Block Pahla of Mahmudabad tehsil of Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh fell prey to corruption. The work of this newly constructed water tank was done under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. Today, the water tank which fell prey to corruption suddenly collapsed. At the time the water tank collapsed, about 20 thousand liters of water was filled in the tank.
Falling of water tanks is continuing in Sitapur district. Earlier, a water tank had also fallen down in village Chithala of Maholi tehsil. Today, when a water tank fell in village Panchayat Chunka of Block Pahla of Mahmoodabad tehsil, its sound echoed far and wide. It is being reported that Rs 531.50 lakh was spent on the construction of the tank.
This water tank supplied water to 8 villages, a population of about 6 thousand people. The panels were also damaged due to the fall of the water tank. For the past four months, water was being supplied to the village through the newly constructed tank. When the water tank fell, it was fortunate that no one was present nearby, otherwise there could have been loss of life.
Mahmoodabad MLA also took cognizance of the matter
This water tank was built by the implementing agency NCC Limited, but after the tank collapsed, the responsible persons of the implementing agency Jal Nigam are maintaining silence and refusing to say anything. Mahmoodabad MLA Asha Maurya, taking cognizance of the tank collapse, said that strict action will be taken against the contractor who built the substandard water tank and whoever is responsible. I will talk to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and demand appropriate action.
What did chief representative Rajaram say?
In this case, Pradhan representative Rajaram said that a big accident was averted because the villagers used to sit and lie down under this tank to cool down in the summer. At present, the reason for the tank falling is not known, what could be the reason, perhaps only the quality, substandard and contractor knows. In this case, former minister/former MLA Narendra Singh Verma said that there was neither any storm nor any hurricane today, yet this water tank collapsed like a paper toy. In this, the company that made the water tank, the contractor, the petty dealer and the officers and employees of the Jal Nigam, all have their hands tainted in corruption. The former minister questioned the Chief Minister's zero tolerance and said that everyone here is involved in corruption.
