Estrogen
Rising levels of estrogen can cause gas, constipation, and trapped wind and gas in your intestinal tract.
Progesterone
Falling levels of progesterone causes the uterus to shed its lining, which causes menstrual bleeding.
Prostaglandins
These hormone-like fatty acids help your uterus contract to shed its lining. If your body makes too many prostaglandins, they can cause other smooth muscles in your body to contract, including those in your intestines. Hormonal changes in the body can cause gas. They include swallowing too much air, eating too much salt, or intolerance to certain carbohydrates or fructose.
Here are some things you can try to reduce gas:
Eat healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, nuts, and seeds
Limit your salt intake to no more than 2,300 milligrams per day.
Avoid foods that typically upset your stomach.
Try yoga postures that release trapped air.
