Raghav Chadha Speech: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha asked sharp questions to the government in the Rajya Sabha regarding the heavy tariff imposed by the US on India and the entry of Starlink. He said that the US pretended to be friends with India, but in return imposed a 26% tariff on Indian products. He questioned the central government whether India is making policies only to benefit American companies?

Chadha also cornered the government over the removal of Google tax and permission to Starlink to provide satellite internet services in India. He said that the government should make Starlink a "bargaining chip" and use it to reduce tariffs with the US.

Taunting the style of the song

MP Raghav Chadha took a jibe at India-US relations and said, "You gave me a good reward for my love, my friend looted my friend's house...". He said that India gave American companies an open field for business, but in return America imposed tariffs on Indian products.

Giving an example, he said that India recently removed the "Google Tax" i.e. Equalization Levy, which benefited American companies like Google, Meta and Amazon by thousands of crores of rupees. But despite this, America increased the tariff on Indian goods, due to which India may suffer a GDP loss of up to 50-100 basis points.

Why should the government stop Starlink?
Chadha said that the plan to give license to Elon Musk's company "Starlink" for broadband services in India can prove to be wrong. He said that the government should stop it and negotiate with America regarding tariff.

He said that India's security can also be threatened through Starlink. During the Ukraine war, Elon Musk himself said that "Starlink is the backbone of the Ukrainian army". He raised the question that if India is embroiled in any dispute in the future, can't Starlink be used against India?

Drug smugglers are also using Starlink!
Raghav Chadha said in Parliament that during the recent seizure of 6000 kg of drugs in Andaman, it was found that Myanmar smugglers had used Starlink. He said that when the Indian government sought data from Starlink in this matter, the company refused to provide information citing "data privacy law".
