Gorakhpur. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called all the parties involved in the Congress and Indy alliance a threat to the Constitution and democracy. He said that Congress never had faith in the Constitution and democracy of India. Whenever it got a chance, it worked to strangle the Constitution and crush democracy.
On Tuesday, on the completion of 49 years of Emergency, CM Yogi was addressing the seminar organized by BJP on the topic of 'Black Day' as the chief guest. Attacking the Congress and its allies in the program organized at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium, the Chief Minister said that 49 years ago, through the Emergency, Congress had tried to destroy democracy.
He said that even the fundamental rights of the citizens were taken away. Even the courts were deprived of their rights. Those who opposed this dictatorial attitude were put in jail and tortured. The Constitution was in pain due to this act of the Congress, democracy was in agony.
He further said that this was the height of crushing democracy. He said that the countrymen got to see the barbaric face of Congress during the Emergency. Even today, the face of the Congress party may have changed but despite being out of power, its basic character is the same as it was during the Emergency.
The Chief Minister said that the people of Congress today appeal for the Constitution and democracy, but when they go outside the country they curse India and its democracy. The Chief Minister honoured the democracy protectors in the programme. Former MLA and democracy protector fighter Sheetal Pandey shared memories related to the Emergency.
