UP News: In Sangam city Prayagraj, both the rivers Ganga and Yamuna are continuously in spate. Due to the continuous rise in water level, both the rivers are rapidly moving towards the danger mark. However, the only relief is that the speed of rising water level of the rivers has reduced drastically. The flood in Ganga and Yamuna rivers has now started wreaking havoc. Flood water has entered dozens of localities in the coastal areas. 

All the roads leading to Sangam have been submerged in flood water. Many monasteries, temples and ashrams have been submerged in flood water. In many residential colonies, one floor of the houses has been submerged in water. Boats are running on many roads and streets. So far, about two thousand people have taken shelter in flood relief camps, while more than ten thousand people have left their homes and gone to safer places.

Boats are running in the Ganges 

In Prayagraj, both the Ganga and Yamuna rivers are flowing about half a meter below the danger mark. Boats are running in the Ganga, but there is a ban on boating in the Yamuna river. If the water level of the rivers continues to rise, then both the Ganga and Yamuna in Prayagraj can cross the danger mark by night. The flood in the rivers has affected the life of a large part of the city as well as rural areas. The Ganga is flowing on the roads and people are taking a holy dip on the roads itself. 

One floor of the houses submerged in flood water

In Prayagraj, dozens of localities including Daraganj, Salori, Baghada, Rajapur, Shivkuti, Jhusi, Chhatnag, Arail, Rasulabad, Phaphamau are in the grip of flood. Flood water has entered thousands of houses. In many places, one floor of the houses has submerged in flood water. The tremendous impact of flood is being seen in rural areas as well. Many villages have lost contact with the main roads. 

One hundred flood relief posts and seven flood relief centers were established

The administration has set up 100 flood relief posts in Prayagraj. Apart from this, 7 flood relief centers have been set up. More than 2000 people have been accommodated in these flood relief centers. The control room is monitoring the situation round the clock. Both the Ganga and Yamuna rivers in Prayagraj are now rising at a speed of 1 to 1.5 cm per hour. It is expected that the flood water will start receding from Tuesday and people will start getting relief. The preparations for Kumbh are also being affected due to the flood.
