Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray reached Nagpur on Tuesday to attend the winter session. While addressing a press conference in Nagpur, Uddhav Thackeray made a big demand. He said that Veer Savarkar should be awarded Bharat Ratna. Targeting the central government, Uddhav said why the BJP is not awarding him Bharat Ratna.
BJP has no right to speak on Savarkar- Uddhav
Uddhav Thackeray said- "Regarding Veer Savarkar, I say why should he not be given Bharat Ratna? He should be given. When Devendra Fadnavis was the CM, he had written a letter to PM Modi demanding Bharat Ratna for Veer Savarkar. Still Veer Savarkar is not being given Bharat Ratna. Even today, he is the CM, when his demand is not being considered, then BJP has no right to speak on Veer Savarkar."
Congress also targeted
Uddhav Thackeray targeted Congress. He said- "I want to say to both Congress and BJP- Congress should stop saying Savarkar Savarkar and BJP should stop saying Nehru Nehru. Instead of talking about what happened in the past, we should focus on what we can do in the future. Whatever both of them did in their time, they did it right in their place. That is why PM Modi should also not keep on harping on Nehru's name now."
What did the colleague say?
On this demand of Uddhav Thackeray, his ally in Maharashtra Sharad Pawar's NCP and its leaders are avoiding speaking. Jitendra Ahwad said in this matter that I do not know what Uddhav Thackeray demanded and what he said, I will not comment on it.
Uddhav has left Hindutva- Shivsena
Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena has also responded to this demand of Uddhav Thackeray. Party leader and cabinet minister Bharat Gogavale said - "Uddhav Thackeray has made the demand, it is fine. All the leaders of Mahayuti will meet and take a decision on the issue of giving Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar. This matter is under our consideration but Uddhav Thackeray, who has left Hindutva, has no right to speak on Veer Savarkar."
