UPI: The Finance Ministry on Saturday informed that the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has achieved more than 15,547 crore transactions worth Rs 223 lakh crore from January to November this year. The Finance Ministry shared data related to UPI regarding the revolution of digital payments through a post from its official X handle.
UPI transactions hit record high of Rs 23.50 lakh crore in October
After reaching a record high of 16.58 billion transactions and a value of Rs 23.50 lakh crore in October 2024, the number of UPI transactions in November stood at 15.48 billion, up 38 per cent year-on-year, with a value of Rs 21.55 lakh crore, up 24 per cent year-on-year.
Earlier, the Finance Ministry had informed that in the first 7 months of FY 2025, transactions through UPI on Rupee credit cards have almost doubled as compared to the same period of FY 2024.
Over 750 million UPI transactions through RuPay credit cards from April to October
From April to October this year, more than 750 million UPI Rupee credit card transactions amounting to Rs 63,825.8 crore were done. At the same time, in FY 2024, the number of transactions from UPI Rupee credit card was 362.8 million, with a total value of Rs 33,439.24 crore.
The government regularly releases data
The facility of UPI transactions on Rupay credit card was started by the government in September 2022. Users using Rupay credit card can do their transactions through the card with the help of UPI app. Earlier, figures for October and November were also released by the government regarding the success of UPI.
UPI was launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2016. With UPI, online payment facility is available by integrating multiple bank accounts in a single mobile application.
