Bareilly. BJP has nominated former minister Bahoran Lal Maurya as its candidate for the Legislative Council by-election. This seat had become vacant after the resignation of SP MLC Swami Prasad Maurya.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, Swami Prasad Maurya had resigned from the party accusing the SP of neglect. Along with this, he also resigned from the post of MLC on February 20.

Voting for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council by-election is to be held on July 12 from 9 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will take place at 5 pm on the same day.

He is a two-time MLA from BJP

  • For the by-election, BJP has made Bahoran Lal Maurya, two-time MLA from Bhojipura assembly constituency, its candidate.
  • Bahoran Lal Maurya was the MLA from Bhojipura first from 1996 to 2002 and then from 2017 to 2022.
  • He was made Minister of State for Revenue in the year 1997.
  • In the year 2022 also, he was made the BJP candidate from Bhojipura.
  • Bahoran Lal Maurya, originally a resident of Firozpur village in Dataganj (Badaun), has been living in the Tibri Nath BDA Colony in Premnagar for a long time.
