Delhi News Today: There is good news for the people of Delhi. People will soon be able to travel by the latest bus service 'Uber Shuttle' launched with the aim of tackling pollution and promoting public transport in Delhi.

 

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot yesterday on Wednesday (September 4) inspected the 'Uber Shuttle' launched by Uber under the 'Delhi Motor Vehicle Licensing of Aggregator' (Premium Bus) Scheme 2023. 

 

On this occasion, Nicolas Van de Lock, General Manager, Uber Shuttle in EMEA and India, and other senior officials of the company met the Transport Minister and informed him about the features of this app-based bus service. 

 

Transport Minister travelled by Uber Shuttle


During this, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot also travelled some distance by 'Uber Shuttle'. Soon these buses will be flagged off for the general public.

After inspecting the 'Uber Shuttle' bus service, Minister Kailash Gehlot told ABP Live that the 'Delhi Premium Bus Scheme' was created to make public transport not only more comfortable but also attractive. 

 

Kailash Gehlot said that it is also designed to reduce air pollution by encouraging eco-friendly public transport options. Uber Shuttle under the Premium Bus scheme is a new beginning in the transport sector for Delhi. 

 

'The aim is to encourage public transport'


Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said, "This will not only help reduce traffic but will also contribute to our broader goal of a clean and green Delhi." He said, "The Delhi government is committed to making public transport more attractive and accessible and encouraging citizens to shift from private vehicles to public transport."

 

Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that our endeavor is to provide the best transport options to the citizens of Delhi and in the coming days you will see an increasing number of premium buses on the road.

 

Uber Shuttle will be equipped with these features


Kailash Gehlot said that under the Uber Shuttle service, there will be air-conditioned buses running on pre-determined routes, which will connect major business places across the city to residential areas. 

Referring to the features of 'Uber Shuttle Service', Kailash Gehlot said that passengers will be able to pre-book seats up to a week in advance, track the live location and route of the bus, view its expected time of arrival (ETA) and make cashless payments through the Uber app.

 

Gehlot said that the Delhi Motor Vehicle Licensing of Aggregator (Premium Bus) Scheme 2023 is a historic initiative, which was specially designed for running premium buses. He said that the aim of this scheme is to provide exceptional quality and comfort to the passengers. 

 

Cabinet Minister Gehlot said that the aim is to promote a paradigm shift in public transport by creating reliability among passengers. The aim of this scheme is to reduce congestion and air pollution and promote reliable public transport.

 

9 passengers will be able to sit in the bus 


. Under this scheme, there is a provision to start premium buses for intra-city travel. This scheme defines "premium bus" as a luxury public bus that has a seating capacity of at least 9 passengers. 

 

Apart from this, it will be fully air-conditioned and equipped with pre-reserved reclining seats, WiFi, GPS and CCTV. Under this scheme, aggregator licenses are given on payment of Rs 5 lakh and are valid for five years with the option of renewal. 

 

Maintenance of 25 premium buses is necessary


. Please note that no license fee is levied on electric buses. License holders are required to maintain and operate a fleet of at least 25 premium buses within 90 days of obtaining the license.
