Terai West Forest Division Uttarakhand: A unique story of a tigress has come to light in the Terai Western Forest Division of Uttarakhand, who faked mating with a tiger to save her six-month-old cub. For six months, the tigress convinced the tiger that she was ready for mating, so that she could save her cub from the tiger's attack. This unique incident has shocked wildlife lovers and experts.
The centre of the incident is the 'Phato Zone', where in April, a tigress was seen playing with her six-month-old cub near a water hole. This scene was captured by tourists on their cameras. A few weeks later in May, the tigress was seen mating with a tiger in the same area, which made experts suspect that perhaps the tigress's cub is dead, because usually tigers tend to kill cubs so that they can mate with the female.
But after a few days, the tigress appeared again with her cub. This surprised everyone. According to wildlife photographer Deep Rajwar, the tigress did fake mating for about a month to save the cub from the tiger. The tigress was feeling threatened for the safety of her cub due to the tiger's frequent visits to the area, so she cleverly made fake mating calls with the tiger. During this entire time, the tigress kept the tiger confused about the existence of her cub.
Forest department's vigilance
Prakash Chandra Arya, DFO of Terai Western Forest Division, said that camera traps were installed to ensure the safety of the tigress and her cub. Also, the forest department staff was also alerted so that any danger to the cub and the tigress could be avoided. The forest department kept an eye on every activity of the tigress and the cub and ensured that the tigress and her cub remained safe.
The cub is safe
now, the tigress cub is one year old and is roaming around safely with its mother. The forest department said that the tigress cub is now out of danger and is roaming freely in the forest with its mother. The tiger has also stopped coming to that area now, due to which the danger to the cub has been completely averted.
The intelligence of the tigress
This incident proved that in the forest, tigresses not only fear for the safety of their cubs, but they also use their cleverness and intelligence. With her intelligence, the tigress kept the tiger confused for a long time and kept her cub safe. This incident has attracted the attention of people associated with wildlife conservation and it is an important step in understanding the strategy and behavior of animals in the forest.
This strategy of the tigress has also become an inspiration for wildlife experts and the forest department, making it clear that wild animals also have unique ways to protect their offspring.
