
Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan has written a letter to the country's army chief Asim Munir from jail. In the letter, he criticized the army's illegal actions and its involvement in politics. Along with this, Imran Khan urged the army to 'return to its constitutional boundaries'.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi for more than a year. He has spoken this now after the first letter, before this he had written a letter on February 3. Earlier Imran Khan had urged the army to review its approach towards national security and governance.
Appeal to return to constitutional boundaries
In the letter posted on X, the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder alleged ill-treatment in prison. Khan has been imprisoned in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail for over a year. After the first letter, security sources had said it had not been received by the army and dismissed media reports about its existence.
He claimed that the establishment was not interested in receiving such a letter. In his letter, Imran Khan said that 'the response to my (earlier) letter was dismissive and irresponsible, saying that their concern is for the reputation of our armed forces and the dangerous consequences of the growing gap between the military and the public. That is why I wrote this letter.'

These points include manipulation of election results through pre-poll rigging organised by intelligence agencies, forcibly passing the 26th Constitutional Amendment in Parliament at gunpoint to take control of the judiciary and appoint select judges, and enacting draconian laws like amendment to PECA (Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act) to suppress dissent.

Khan said political instability and "might is right" policy had thrown the country's economy into chaos. Khan lamented that the country's "biggest political party" was being targeted and all state institutions were being used for political engineering and revenge.
