Popular comedian show The Great Indian Kapil Show is entertaining the audience on Netflix. Just like TV, its popularity is the same on OTT as well. However, at present the show seems to be embroiled in some controversies.

In fact, The Great Indian Kapil Show received a legal notice on November 1 for hurting the religious sentiments of the Bengali community as well as maligning the image of the late Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The complainants have raised concerns over the portrayal of Bengalis in the show through the legal notice.

Who sent notice to the show?

This notice has been sent by Dr Mandal, President of Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF) through his legal advisor Nripendra Krishna Roy. The notice states that something has been done in The Great Indian Kapil Show which is insulting to the great poet, Rabindranath Tagore. This poses a risk of hurting the religious and cultural sentiments of Bengalis not only in India but all over the world.

What did the makers say in their clarification?

Now the makers of the show have responded on this matter. Responding to the notice, the makers of The Great Indian Kapil Show said that they had no intention of misrepresenting Tagore's work and legacy. They said, "The Great Indian Kapil Show is a comedy program made purely for entertainment." They said that the show is made up of parodies and fictional sketches, which are not intended to maliciously target any specific person or community.

We have no relation - Salman Khan Team

Meanwhile, a rumour also spread that Salman Khan's production house has also received a legal notice related to this controversy. However, now the actor's team has issued a statement and distanced itself from The Great Indian Kapil Show.

Salman Khan's representative said in a statement, 'We have nothing to do with 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' aired on Netflix. Some media reports are saying that Salman Khan (SKTV) has received a notice, but this is not true because we are not associated with 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' aired on Netflix.
