A sudden storm and hurricane has caused havoc in Jalibenchi village in Surpur taluka of Yadgir district of Karnataka. The main power lines broke and fell due to the strong winds, causing a severe short circuit. About 100 houses were affected in this incident that happened late on Tuesday night. Electronic appliances like TV, fridge, fans got burnt and damaged in more than 100 houses. The accident is said to have started from an old transformer pole located near Mallikarjuna temple. There is chaos in the village after the accident.

Videos of the horrific incident went viral

Several videos of this horrific incident are going viral, showing sparks coming out of electric poles, smoke rising from roofs and flames coming out of houses. Burnt switchboards, burnt batteries, blackened fan blades, damaged TVs and refrigerators are seen in the houses. Two people have been injured in this incident, although their condition remains stable.

Initial investigations suggest that the incident was caused by sudden strong winds in the area. Due to these strong winds, old electric wires collided with each other, causing a short circuit and subsequently a fire. However, the exact cause has not been officially confirmed yet.
