Mumbai: Senior NCP leader Baba Siddiqui was shot dead by three gunmen on Saturday. After receiving the news of Baba Siddiqui's death, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan cancelled the shooting of Bigg Boss 18 and reached Lilavati Hospital at night.
Apart from Salman Khan, CM Shinde, Ajit Pawar and Shilpa Shetty Kundra reached Lilavati Hospital to meet Baba Siddiqui's family. Baba Siddiqui had a strong influence in Mumbai's politics as well as Bollywood. His Iftar parties were attended by Bollywood stars.
He was famous for his Iftar party
Baba Siddiqui has also been very popular in the film industry of Mumbai. Actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have been seen attending the Iftar parties organized by him during Ramzan. Baba Siddiqui was being seen as Ajit Pawar's main strategist in the upcoming assembly elections.
Talking about Baba Siddiqui's political career, he was an MLA from Bandra West for three consecutive terms in 1999, 2004 and 2009. He also held responsibility as Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, Labor and FDA during 2004 to 2008.
Three shooters fired six bullets
Baba Siddiqui was shot six times by three shooters who came on a motorcycle outside his son's office at around 9.30 pm on Saturday night. Baba Siddiqui was taken to the nearby Lilavati Hospital in a wounded state, where he was declared dead. Of the two shooters arrested by the police, one is said to be from Haryana and the other from Uttar Pradesh. A pistol has also been recovered from the accused. The police is suspecting the Lawrence Bishnoi gang behind this incident.
Let us tell you that Baba Siddiqui spent his entire political life (about 48 years) in the Congress party. But this year he left the Congress. His MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui is also likely to join the NCP soon and contest the next assembly elections.
I left Congress in February
Siddiqui joined NCP from Congress in February this year. He was associated with Congress for about 48 years. He joined the Congress party in 1977 during his student life. He was a Congress MLA from Bandra West Assembly constituency thrice in 1999, 2004 and 2009. His son Zeeshan Siddiqui is currently a Congress MLA from Bandra East constituency.
