UP News: Amidst the ongoing protest against the proposal of privatization of electricity in Uttar Pradesh, the Vidyut Karamchari Samyukta Sangharsh Samiti has announced a simultaneous protest across the state from today, December 7. In the meeting held on Friday, the proposal to hand over the Purvanchal and Dakshinchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam to private hands was opposed. After this, the Central Committee of Engineers announced a protest on December 7 and under this, a protest will be held today on Saturday.
Protest meetings will be held at all corporation headquarters, sub-centres, production units of Uttar Pradesh. 27 lakh electricity employees of Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal Discom will register their protest in these meetings. All of them will hold protest meetings during lunch break.
ESMA imposed in UP for 6 months
Amidst the announcement of this protest, the Uttar Pradesh government has banned strikes in the departments, corporations and authorities under its control for 6 months. A notification in this regard has been issued on Friday by Principal Secretary Personnel M Devraj.
After this notification, it is believed that ESMA has been imposed in view of the possible strike by the employees of the electricity department. In the notification issued regarding the ban on strike, it has been said that under the Uttar Pradesh Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1996, strike will be prohibited for the next 6 months.
Power corporation management strict regarding protest
The Power Corporation management has also taken a tough stand regarding the protest starting today. In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Power Corporation Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, instructions have been given to prepare mobile gangs and get videography done for the protest and a warning has also been given that action will be taken against those who try to damage the power system.
Under this, control rooms have been set up in all the districts of the state from where the activities of the employee organizations are being monitored. Ashish Goyal has said that employees can stage symbolic protests in a peaceful manner without disrupting the power supply. If any attempt is made to disrupt the power supply, stop anyone from working or vandalize, strict action will be taken against them.
Let us tell you that the Power Corporation has also warned the outsourcing agencies to keep their employees away from the agitation or else their services will be terminated. Also, orders have been given not to grant leave to the officers and employees of the department and to call back those who are on leave.
