The deceased has been identified as Pradipta Choudhary. Local people saw the body floating in the drain early in the morning and immediately informed the police. After finding the body, the local people expressed deep resentment. The collector said, "We have instructed the municipality to identify all the open drains present in the city and cover them as soon as possible. Also, some municipal drains will also be included in this process. We are looking at this issue as our responsibility and will solve it on priority."

After the incident, the local people have demanded immediate action from the administration.
