PM Modi Guyana Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a special session of Guyana's Parliament on Thursday (21 November). During this, he said that the friendship between Guyana and India is very old. 180 years ago, Indians set foot on this land. Both had the same yearning for freedom. Here, people close to Gandhiji fought together for independence and achieved independence and today both our countries are strengthening democracy.

He further said that every effort to strengthen democracy in Guyana is strengthening the world. Today, we have to keep a constant watch on global conditions. When we became independent, the challenges were different, today in the 21st century the challenges are different. The systems and institutions formed after the Second World War are collapsing. After Corona, the world had to move towards a new world order but today the world is stuck in some other matters. If we work with the spirit of Humanity First, then we remain committed to working for humanity.
We are strengthening democracy in every ups and downs and there is no better medium than democracy. Democracy wishes every citizen his rights and his bright future.

'India is playing its role as a world brother'

PM Modi said, "The relationship between India and Guyana is very deep, it is a relationship of soil, sweat and hard work. About 180 years ago an Indian came to the land of Guyana and since then the relationship between India and Guyana has been full of intimacy in both situations of happiness and sorrow. With the spirit of democracy first, humanity first, India is performing its duty as 'Vishwa Bandhu'."

'This is not the time for conflict'

The Prime Minister said, "This is not the time for conflict for the world, this is the time to identify the conditions that create conflict and to remove them. Today there are so many challenges like terrorism, drugs, cyber crime, etc. that only by fighting them will we be able to shape the future of our coming generations."
