After violent protests, the Nepal government has reduced the security of the country's former king Gyanendra Shah. The demonstration of people supporting the monarchy in Nepal turned violent on Friday. During the demonstration, incidents of stone pelting, attack on a party office, looting of shops and setting vehicles on fire took place.
9 security personnel removed from Gyanendra Shah's residence
Former King Gyanendra Shah lives in his private house Nirmal Niwas. Earlier 25 security personnel were deployed here. But after Friday's violence, this number has been reduced to 16. Supporters of the monarchy are demanding to make Nepal a Hindu nation again.
Damages will also be recovered
Former King Gyanendra Shah will also have to compensate for the losses caused by the violence. Kathmandu Municipality has issued a notice in this regard. Kathmandu Municipality has imposed a fine of more than seven lakh Nepalese rupees on the former king. The former king has been asked to pay this amount soon.
Two killed in violent protests
On Friday, protesters vandalised more than a dozen properties, including business complexes, restaurants, hospitals, private and government buildings. Two people, including a TV cameraman, have lost their lives in clashes between security personnel and pro-monarchy protesters. At the same time, 110 other people have been injured.
Surveillance of the former king has also begun
Sources in Nepal's Home Ministry have informed that changes have also been made in the team deployed for the security of former King Gyanendra Shah. The government has also tightened surveillance on Gyanendra Shah's activities. The Nepali Congress said that Gyanendra Shah should be held responsible for Friday's violent incidents.
So is Gyanendra Shah behind the protest?
The government believes that Gyanendra Shah is behind all the activities of pro-monarchy and pro-Hindu campaigners across the country, including former Prime Minister and chairman of the opposition CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.
National Democratic Party issued warning
Two leaders of Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, Dhawal Shamsher Rana and Ravindra Mishra have been arrested. The party has demanded the release of both the leaders. The government has also been warned that if they are not released within 24 hours, the party workers will take to the streets. Whatever happened in the capital on Friday... the government is responsible for it.
