There are continuous protests in many states of India regarding the atrocities on minority Hindus in Bangladesh and disrespect towards the Indian flag. Not only this, a few days ago two hospitals in Agartala and Kolkata had also banned the treatment of Bangladeshi citizens. Meanwhile, on Monday, Tripura Hotels and Restaurants have also taken a big decision. They have now refused to provide services to Bangladeshis.
Bangladeshi citizens will not get food in restaurants
This information was given in a statement issued by the apex association of the travel sector in the northeastern state. This decision has been taken in view of the tension in diplomatic relations between the two neighbors.
A statement issued by the All-Tripura Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association said hotels in the state will not provide rooms to Bangladeshi tourists and restaurants will not serve food to them.
The statement came at a time when hundreds of people took out a massive rally around the Bangladeshi mission in the capital Agartala. During this, people protested against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh as well as attacks on minorities in the neighboring country.
Insulting our national flag
ATHROA general secretary Saikat Bandopadhyay said the decision was taken at an emergency meeting held on Monday.
He said, we are a secular country and respect all religions. Our national flag has been insulted and minorities are facing persecution by a section of fundamentalists in Bangladesh. Such incidents used to happen earlier also, but now it has crossed the limit.
He said, the current situation in Bangladesh is really worrying. We serve the people who are coming to Tripura for various purposes. We condemn the treatment meted out to minorities in Bangladesh.
Earlier, multi-speciality private hospital ILS Hospital had announced that it will not treat any patients from Bangladesh in protest against the atrocities against minorities in the neighbouring country.
Demonstration in Agartala
Hundreds of protesters rallied near the Bangladeshi Assistant High Commission in Agartala, with more than 50 protesters entering the premises. This incident created an atmosphere of concern among officers and employees. At the same time, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has condemned this violation. The MEA also made it clear that the security of all diplomatic and consular properties must always be ensured and the security of Bangladesh missions will be strengthened.
