New Delhi : Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday slammed the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and said it is "no longer a professional institution" but has become a political tool for the ruling party.

The Congress general secretary in-charge of communications made the remarks in the wake of the National Testing Agency blaming NCERT for the 'grace marks' mess in the 2024 exams of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges. Jairam Ramesh said the blame game only serves as an attempt by the NTA to divert attention from its 'gross failures'.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized NCERT

"However, it is true that NCERT is no longer a professional institution. It has been functioning as an RSS-affiliated body since 2014. Just recently, it has been revealed that its revised Class 11 political science textbook criticises the idea of secularism and also criticises the policies of political parties in this regard," the Congress leader said in a post.
