New Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is scheduled to hold a meeting of its newly elected MPs in the Central Hall of Parliament today. According to sources, the meeting will discuss the formation of a government on behalf of the Mahagathbandhan. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA has crossed the majority mark by winning 293 seats. However, the BJP managed to secure only 240 seats, which is much less than in 2019.
PM Modi said this
Earlier on Wednesday, the leaders of the parties included in the NDA held a meeting and unanimously elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader. PM Modi later said that we met our valuable NDA allies. The NDA will work towards building a developed India.
In the meeting held on Wednesday itself, the allies were told that a formula will be prepared for distribution of cabinet posts which will be agreed upon. According to unconfirmed sources, instead of any number formula, there is a plan to give proper representation to all the allies.
The post of Lok Sabha Speaker was also demanded by TDP
In such a situation, the party which has up to five members can be given one ministerial post and JDU and TDP which have more than them can be given three ministerial posts each. However, speculations are rife that these parties have demanded four ministerial posts and TDP has also demanded the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. Neither of the two parties has formally stated these demands.
According to BJP sources, no demand has been made by these parties so far. A long meeting was also held at the residence of BJP President JP Nadda on Thursday regarding the swearing-in ceremony. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present in the meeting. In this meeting, along with preparations, election review was also done.
