The month of Magha is dedicated to Maa Ganga. In this month, people bathe in the Ganga every day. On Amavasya and Purnima Tithi, a large number of devotees take a holy dip in the Ganga and other holy rivers and lakes of the country. It is mentioned in Garuda Purana that by bathing in the Ganga on Mauni Amavasya Tithi and offering tarpan to ancestors, the devotee gets freedom from Pitra Dosh. Along with this, ancestors of three generations get salvation.

There is a rule of keeping silence on the day of Mauni Amavasya. Therefore, the seekers keep a silent fast till they take a bath in the Ganges. After this, they worship Mahadev, the God of Gods, with devotion. By worshiping Lord Shiva on the day of Mauni or Maghi Amavasya, every wish of the seeker is fulfilled. Along with this, one gets freedom from all troubles. If you also want to get rid of the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly, then on the day of Mauni Amavasya, take a bath in the Ganges and worship Lord Shiva with rituals (Mauni Amavasya 2025 Puja Vidhi). At the same time, while anointing Lord Shiva, do recite Ganga Chalisa.
