Maha Kumbh Stampede: The three-member judicial commission constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the Maha Kumbh stampede reached the spot at Sangam Nose in Prayagraj on Friday and took information from the officials. After this, the members of the commission questioned the injured admitted in SRN Hospital.

The commission, headed by retired Allahabad High Court judge Justice Harsh Kumar, includes former Director General of Police VK Gupta and retired IAS officer DK Singh.

An official said that the commission reached Sangam Nose in the afternoon where the stampede took place late on Tuesday night. Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand, DIG Vaibhav Krishna, SSP Rajesh Dwivedi and other officials present with the commission gave information to the members of the commission. The commission visited the area amid heavy security.

The commission reached Swarooprani Nehru Hospital in the city from Sangam where the commission members talked to the people injured in the stampede and their relatives and gathered information about the situation. By 5 pm the commission returned to the Circuit House.

When asked by journalists,
a member of the commission said, "I do not want to comment at the moment. Today we visited the spot and reviewed the situation."

Commission Chairman Justice Harsh Kumar said that the commission has got one month's time to investigate, but it will investigate speedily.

According to the police, this incident happened because the crowd broke the barricade and moved forward crushing the people sitting on the ghat on the other side. 30 people died in this incident, while 60 people were injured.
