Kartik month is the eighth month of the Hindu calendar. This entire month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Kartik month has started. Kartik month holds immense religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. It is also known as Damodar month (Kartik Maas 2024). According to beliefs, as many religious and spiritual acts as possible should be done this month. This destroys all the sins of a person and brings auspicious results.

Why is it important to light a lamp in the month of Kartik?
Lighting a lamp during the month of Kartik means removing darkness and negative energy from your mind and soul. Here darkness means ignorance. During this time, those who light a lamp in front of Lord Vishnu and worship him properly, are helped to get rid of ego, greed, lust and materialistic world. Also, the soul is purified. At the same time, lighting a lamp during this time brings auspiciousness and positivity in life.
Kartik month worship rules (Kartik Maas 2024 Puja Rules)
- Wake up early in the morning in Brahma Muhurta.
- Take a holy bath before starting the puja rituals .
- During this month, special poojas and kathas are organized in almost all temples, therefore, a large number of devotees of Lord Vishnu visit the temples early in the morning.
- Those who are unable to go to the temple, should take a wooden plank and install the idol of Lord Vishnu on it and light a lamp at home.
- Recite the story of the month of Kartik.
- After completing the puja, offer arghya to Lord Sun.
- Taking bath in river Ganga in this month is considered extremely virtuous.
- Chant the names of Lord Vishnu during this time.
- Recite Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana and Vishnu Sahasranama.
- Light a lamp near the Tulsi plant, it is considered very auspicious.
- During this time, do charity and feed the poor.
- Be sure to offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu every day.
