Azamgarh News: Divisional Commissioner Vivek conducted a surprise inspection of Atal Residential School Gambhirvan, the government's ambitious scheme. Many irregularities were found during the inspection of the school. The Commissioner expressed strong displeasure over the irregularities found in the school during the inspection and directed Deputy Labor Commissioner Rajesh Kumar and Labor Enforcement Officer Devendra Singh to submit an explanation. Along with this, departmental action has been taken against the school's nodal officer Assistant Labor Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sonkar, as well as a recommendation has been sent to remove Principal Braj Kishore Narayan Singh from the school.
Apart from this, on receiving several serious complaints against clerk Ashutosh Rai posted in the school who was also given the responsibility of librarian, the Divisional Commissioner also directed to terminate his service with immediate effect. Divisional Commissioner Vivek directly interacted with the students in the school and took detailed information about studies, residential facilities, food, facilities available in the hostel, availability of study material, sports, stationery, cleanliness of school and hostel etc.
Complaint on finding irregularities during inspection
During his inspection, he first went to the classes and took stock of the quality of education of the children. The children informed that they were given only 12 notebooks and two pens in a year. Apart from this, the bags given to them are torn, RO water is not available for drinking. A lot of pebbles are coming out of the ground in the playground, due to which children often get injured while playing. The students also told that the hostel is cleaned only two to three times a week, whereas it should be cleaned every day. Broom for cleaning, soap for bathing, shampoo and oil, brush, toothpaste etc. are also not being given. The students told that earlier the storekeeper had given them 6 soaps each, but later 2 soaps each were taken back. Apart from this, many other complaints were found by the students including that food is not given as per the menu and the quality of food is very bad etc.
To confirm the complaints received from the students, the Divisional Commissioner gathered the entire teaching and non-teaching staff in the Principal's room and reviewed the work. Many irregularities came to light and most of the complaints made by the students were confirmed. In the context of the complaints received regarding food, he went to the mess and checked the quality of the food himself and found that the rice cooked was of very poor quality, which was giving out a bad smell and a lot of pebbles were found in it. Similarly, vegetables and dal were made very thin by adding too much water.
The children complained to the divisional commissioner about the food. When
the divisional commissioner enquired about the food from the children in the food line, he was told that there is provision for many kinds of food items like fruit, curd, salad, paneer, milk etc. in the menu, but they never get food as per the menu. In the name of fruit sometimes they are given only bananas, no other fruit is given. The tea given in the morning contains only water and sugar, milk and tea leaves are there just for name sake.
After this, Divisional Commissioner Vivek also inspected the Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel, where the cleanliness was found to be very bad. Out of the four wash basins in the toilet of the Boys Hostel, the tap of one was broken, the main pipe of two was missing, only one wash basin was functional. Similarly, the flush of the toilets was not working, it had also not been cleaned for many days. The cleanliness of the Girls Hostel was also found to be very bad. Many bed sheets were found to be very dirty.
Taking action on serious irregularities found in Atal Residential School, Divisional Commissioner Vivek said that Atal Residential School is included in the ambitious schemes of the government. In which arrangements have been made to provide better education to poor children under all circumstances, but some officers and employees are not serious about this scheme. In such a situation, along with seeking clarification from them, action has also been taken against some and if such irregularities are found in the future, strict action will be taken.
