According to the Mayo Clinic, the problem of myopia occurs when the shape of the eyes or a part of the eyes changes, due to which the light starts refracting, i.e. it starts bending. Due to this, the light starts focusing ahead of the retina instead of focusing behind it, due to which distant objects appear blurred. The problem of myopia usually starts in childhood, behind which both genetics and lifestyle play an important role.
