New Delhi. Taxpayers have to file Income Tax Return by 31 July 2024 ( ITR Filing Last Date ) . Now as the date of return filing is approaching, more and more taxpayers have started filing returns. Many times taxpayers file returns in a hurry and make some mistakes.
If there is any mistake in filing the return, then the tax refund also gets stuck. Sometimes the ITR becomes defective. In such a situation, today we will tell you what things you should keep in mind while filing the return, so that you do not make any mistake.
Select the correct form
If you are employed, you must select the correct form to file the return. There are different ITR forms for salaried persons and businessmen.
Don't take the right deductions
While filling ITR, you should give all the correct information. You have to fill all your personal details like name, address, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, bank account number etc. correctly. If you fill wrong information then your ITR may get rejected.
Prevalidate bank account
The Income Tax Department is repeatedly reminding all taxpayers to get their bank accounts pre-validated. If the bank account is not validated, the tax refund may get stuck.
Enter TDS details carefully
If any information given in the ITR form is different then the return may be rejected. Taxpayers should keep in mind that there should not be any difference in the information given in the 26AS form and the TDS form. Apart from this, the information given in Form-16 should also be correct.
Do not hide your income
Form 16 plays an important role in income tax returns. A salaried person should never hide his income source. If a taxpayer does this, he may have to pay a notice or a penalty by the Income Tax Department.
Do e-verification
After filing the income tax return, it is necessary to e-verify it. If the taxpayer does not do this, then his ITR will be considered invalid. Apart from this, if e-verification is not done, the taxpayer will not get tax refund.
