
GBS Case in Pune: The number of GBS patients is continuously increasing in Pune, Maharashtra. The number of patients here has reached 158. It is suspected that the number of patients is increasing due to polluted water in Pune. Most of the cases are from Pune and its surrounding areas.
According to health department officials, 31 patients are from Pune Mahanagar Palika, 83 patients are from Sinhagad Road, Kirkitwadi, Nandoshi and some villages of the same area. Apart from this, 18 patients are from Pimpri Chinchwad, 18 patients are from Pune Rural, while 8 patients are from other districts. So far 38 patients have been discharged. At the same time, 21 patients are on ventilator.
GBS havoc in Maharashtra!
The death toll due to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) in Maharashtra rose to 5 on Saturday (02 February). Health department officials gave information in this regard. A 60-year-old man from Warje area of Pune died on Saturday due to respiratory problems. GBS was confirmed in the person. Earlier, four people had died due to GBS in the state.
Water samples from different areas were sent to the lab
Several water samples from different parts of Pune city have been sent to the Public Health Lab for chemical and biological analysis. In the investigation, samples from eight water sources have been found contaminated. An official said on Friday that a total of 160 water samples from different areas of Pune city have been sent to the lab for chemical and biological analysis.
According to the official, the presence of Escherichia coli or E-coli bacteria was observed in one of the samples taken from some private borewells in the Sinhagad Road area. He said that the presence of E-coli in water is a sign of contamination from feces or animal waste. This can cause GBS infection.
