Indore News Today: In Indore, the economic capital of Madhya Pradesh, the state government has made it mandatory to install CCTV cameras at every place where there is a possibility of gathering of 100 or more people at a time. This will help curb crime. Officials gave this information on Friday (September 13).
In this regard, officials said that the state's Urban Development and Housing Department approved the by-laws of the "Indore Community Camera Surveillance System". During this, its rules and regulations have also been published in the state gazette.
CCTV will curb crime
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava told the media that Indore will become the first city in the country to implement a community monitoring system with public participation through CCTV cameras. He said that under this system, installation of thousands of new CCTV cameras across the city will curb crime and increase the sense of security among citizens.
What did the mayor say about CCTV maintenance?
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said, "Under this, all the CCTV cameras of the city will be connected to a control room and their live feed can be seen there." He said that if any incident happens in the future, it will come under the purview of CCTV.
Regarding its maintenance, Pushyamitra Bhargava said that if a CCTV camera installed at any place is switched off, a notice will reach the concerned person to switch it on within 24 hours to avoid punitive action.
Action will be taken on violation of rules
Officials said that any person or establishment violating the rules and regulations of the community camera surveillance system will be penalized under the Indian Justice Code, Information Technology Act and other related laws. According to officials, a fine will also be recovered from the culprits in this case.
