Many people like tea very much. Drinking it especially in winters has its own fun. People often like to drink it to keep themselves warm in winters. Seeing this increasing habit of tea, tea with tea bags has become quite popular these days. Often people drink tea to get rid of laziness and lethargy while working in the office. Tea bags are mostly used in offices and hotels, but do you know that the tea bags you are using to get rid of laziness and lethargy are very harmful for health.
Recently, a fresh study has come out regarding this, in which many shocking revelations have been made. This fresh study revealed that if you drink tea with tea bags, then it can cause serious harm to your health. Let's know what this fresh study is-
What does the study say?
A recent study by the Autonomous University of Barcelona published in Chemosphere revealed that drinking tea in tea bags can cause many health problems. Polymer-based tea bags, which are usually made of materials such as nylon-6, polypropylene and cellulose, release billions of microplastics and nanoplastics (MNPLs) after being poured with hot water. These particles can enter our bloodstream and be absorbed by gut cells, causing serious health problems.
Scientists found that a single drop of tea made from a polypropylene tea bag releases about 1.2 billion plastic particles. 135 million particles of cellulose and 8.18 million of nylon-6 are released. The study found that these particles get absorbed by intestinal cells, which can later spread to other parts of the body.
What are microplastics?
Microplastics are very small particles of plastic, which come from different sources. These microplastics can pose a threat to aquatic life by reaching the sea and Great Lakes. They are also harmful for health. Many studies have found evidence of their accumulation in organs like brain, liver, kidney, which can cause serious damage.
