Barabanki News: The hobby of making girlfriends and stealing gifts for them proved costly for a young man. In UP's Barabanki district, a young man who befriended girls on Instagram and stole gifts from them has been caught by the police. In fact, a clever thief living in Barabanki district tried his best to rob the PNB bank in the city to give expensive gifts to his Instagram girlfriend living in Canada but failed and was caught by the police.

According to the police, on November 4, Sonu Dixit, the branch manager of Punjab National Bank located at Chhaya Chauraha in Kotwali Nagar police station, said that when the bank opened today after the festival holiday from October 30, the branch found that the main gate of the bank was broken and open. The branch manager suspected an attempt at theft, on which the police registered an FIR against unknown persons and inspected the crime scene. Dog squad and forensic team collected evidence on the spot.

, after which SWAT/Surveillance and Kotwali Nagar police station teams were engaged. After watching about 70 CCTV cameras, police got a video footage of the accused. The accused was identified as Shahid Khan alias Abdul Samad son of late Firoz Khan, resident of Mohalla Begamganj, Kotwali Nagar police station district Barabanki by making his face clear through technical app. Police arrested the accused within 3 hours and revealed the incident. Also, the tools used in the incident were recovered.

ASP CN Sinha said that interrogation of the accused revealed that Shahid Khan has three girlfriends, one of whom he befriended through Instagram. She lives in Canada. Through chatting, their love relationship grew stronger. To impress her, the accused needed a lot of money to give her expensive gifts. Police said that on October 30, while doing recce at a shop outside the bank, he was convinced that there was a lot of money in the bank.

In view of the upcoming festivals, the banks will remain closed for several days. Then on the night of 31st October, an attempt was made to break the lock of the main gate of the bank but when it did not break, a grinder was used but that too was unsuccessful. The theft incident was captured in CCTV. The police reached the house of the accused while investigating. The youth who committed the theft to give expensive gifts to his girlfriends has been arrested by the police. The accused is confessing his crime during interrogation.
