A new revelation has been made about the Azerbaijani plane that crashed in the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan Airlines said in a statement that the plane crash in Kazakhstan occurred due to external physical and technical interference. There were a total of 67 people on board the plane. Out of these, 38 people have lost their lives.
Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines was going from Baku to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya province of Russia. But due to fog in Grozny, the plane could not land. After this, it moved towards the Caspian Sea. But it had lost its original route. In a short while, the plane crashed on the sea coast in the city of Aktau. 29 passengers on board the plane have been rescued.
Suspected Russian missile attack
According to the information, there were drone attacks in the area some time before the plane crash. A report also claimed that the accident was caused by a Russian surface-to-air missile. The report said that the missile was fired by mistake. However, Russia later rejected these speculations.
Russia said- we had given the option to land
Russia's aviation watchdog said on Friday that the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Kazakhstan on Wednesday had decided to change course because of heavy fog and a local alert over a Ukrainian drone.
Rosaviatsia said the plane's captain was asked to land at other airports. But he decided to land in the Kazakh city of Aktau. Russia said it would cooperate with the investigation. But to know what really happened, we will have to wait for the investigation to be completed. Four Azerbaijani sources told Reuters on Thursday that the plane was shot down by Russian air defense.
Azerbaijan Airlines suspends flights to several cities in Russia
Azerbaijan Airlines has announced the suspension of its flights to several Russian airports, citing flight safety risks. However, the names of the cities have not been given. Many experts have blamed the Russian air defense system for this plane crash.
Officials in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia have remained tight-lipped about the possible cause of the crash pending an investigation. However, an Azerbaijani lawmaker has blamed Moscow.
