Rampur. Charges have been framed against 12 people including SP leader Azam Khan in the case of occupying the land of farmers of Aliganj and merging it with Jauhar University. The process of testimony was to begin from Thursday, but the hearing could not take place. The court has fixed June 6 for the next hearing.

In these cases, besides Azam Khan, his wife former MP Dr. Tajin Fatma, his elder son Adeeb, younger son former MLA Abdullah, sister Nikhat Akhlaq, Chamraua MLA Naseer Khan, retired CO Ale Hasan Khan, then Azimnagar police station in-charge Kushalveer Singh, accountant Anandveer Singh, Zaki ur Rehman Siddiqui, Mushtaq Ahmed Siddiqui and Fasih Zaidi have been made accused.

In 2019, many cases were registered against Azam

A number of cases were registered against Azam Khan in the year 2019. Out of these, 27 cases were registered in Azimnagar police station area, which were registered by the farmers of Aliganj. It is alleged that Azam Khan, Ale Hasan and Kushalveer Singh forcibly pressured the farmers to give their lands for Jauhar University. For this, they were forcibly kept in lockup. They were threatened to be implicated in false cases of charas and smack.

Even after this, when they did not register their land, their land was forcibly occupied and merged with Jauhar University. After investigating these cases, the police filed charge sheets in the court. In all these cases, the MP-MLA Special Court (Magistrate Trial) has framed charges. According to senior prosecution officer Amarnath Tiwari, now the testimony is to be given. The hearing could not be held on Thursday. Now the hearing will be held on June 6.
