The influence of Indian-Americans is increasing in the team of the newly elected US President Donald Trump. Now Trump has given a big responsibility to another Indian-American in his new cabinet. Trump on Monday nominated Indian American lawyer Harmeet K Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Justice Department.
Donald Trump also wrote a post about this, he said, 'I am pleased to nominate Harmeet K Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the US Department of Justice. Throughout her career, Harmeet has consistently stood up to protect our coveted civil liberties. Harmeet is one of America's top lawyers. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Virginia University Law School.'
'Dhillon will protect constitutional rights'
Trump also said Dhillon took on tech companies for restricting free speech, representing Christians who were prevented from praying together during the COVID-19 pandemic
Donald Trump further said that Harmeet is a respected member of the Sikh community. At the Justice Department, Harmeet will be a tireless defender of our constitutional rights and will enforce our civil rights and election laws fairly and firmly.
I feel honoured
After this, lawyer Harmeet K Dhillon also responded, in his reply he said, I am extremely honored to be nominated and to be part of an incredible team of lawyers led by Pam Bondi, Trump's Attorney General elect.
