Wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take a bath. Mix red flowers, rice, rice, kumkum, turmeric, jaggery, black sesame seeds etc. with water in a copper vessel. After this, stand on a sacred red seat and offer water to Lord Surya. Then chant his Vedic mantras. You can also recite Suryadev Stotra and Suryadev Chalisa. Perform Aarti of Sun God with devotion using incense, lamp and camphor. Offer coconut, fruits, sweets etc. to Lord Surya.
Apologize for the mistakes made during the worship. Those who worship Lord Surya according to the rules should eat satvik food. While offering arghya, the pot should be kept below the head. Water should be offered only to the rising sun. Apart from this, the water of arghya should not fall on the feet.
