Amravati News:  A case has come to light in a village in Amravati district of Maharashtra where an elderly woman was beaten up and forced to drink urine. The 77-year-old woman was not only beaten up but also burnt with an iron rod on suspicion of practicing black magic. Police said on Saturday that the incident took place on December 30. But the complaint was received in early January. 

The victim's son and daughter-in-law had approached a senior police officer on Friday demanding action. The elderly woman lives in Retyakheda village in Chikhaldara taluka. In a letter addressed to the District Collector and SP, the complainant alleged that the woman was alone at her home on December 30 when the neighbours caught her and took her away. They accused her of practicing black magic. The villagers then beat the elderly woman with sticks and also slapped her.

Parade was held by wearing garland of shoes

Not only this, they used iron rods on her legs and hands. According to the complaint, the woman was forced to drink urine and was fed dog excreta. Not only this, she was made to wear a garland of slippers around her neck and paraded around the village. The woman's son and daughter-in-law were out for work. When they came to know about the incident on January 5, they lodged a complaint with the police.

Police reached the village to confirm the incident

On the other hand, Amravati SP Vishal Anand said that this is a serious matter. The victims talked to us on Friday. This village is in a forest area. A police officer has been sent to confirm the incident. Action will be taken accordingly. He said that it will also be confirmed whether the concerned police station where the complaint was first lodged tried to hide the matter or not. If any mistake has been made then action will be taken.
