New Delhi: There is optimism among Indian consumers about the festive season. This is the reason why Indian consumers are preparing for big shopping this festive season. Think tank The Bharat Lab has said this in its latest Mood of India report Diwali Pulse-2024. This report, prepared on the basis of the response of 3,480 people from all working classes, gives information about the shopping behavior of common people. The Bharat Lab has been jointly established by Rediffusion and Lucknow University.
Indians are influenced by advertisements
Bargaining and discounts are always preferred while shopping. 63.82 percent of the consumers surveyed said that they are motivated to shop by discounts and offers. 48.77 percent said that they are motivated to shop by tradition and cultural significance, which confirms the importance of Diwali as a time for family and heritage. More than half of the people surveyed said that they are influenced by internet media influencers in the fashion and electronics category. At the same time, about 41 percent of the people trusted TV and newspaper advertisements.
Nearly half the people are preparing for new investment
During this festive season, almost half (49.14%) of the people surveyed are planning to make new investments. 55.26 percent of the people have talked about investing in gold and 40.74 percent in real estate. About 49.71 percent of the people are also planning to travel somewhere during the festive season.
Important points of the survey
36.18 percent people are planning to increase festive expenditure compared to last year.
35.02 percent people said that they would maintain their festive expenditure at last year's level.
29.52 percent people are planning to spend less on the festival this time due to inflation.
This time 83.36 percent of people said that they were shopping keeping the environment in mind.
This time 86.35 percent people are planning to buy new clothes during the festivals.
70.83 percent said that they bought items related to home decoration.
60.92 percent are planning to buy electronics products and 48.13 percent are planning to buy jewellery.
58 percent of people talked about hybrid i.e. online and offline shopping.
20.98 percent are planning to shop only digitally.
33% are planning to buy a new vehicle
33.62% of the people surveyed have said that they are planning to buy a new vehicle during the festive season. This is a small group but it has indicated that it is going to make a big purchase. Of the total people planning to buy a new vehicle, 33.05% have said that they will buy a popular four-wheeler, 18.88% have said that they will buy a luxury car and 48.07% have said that they will buy a two-wheeler.
