New Delhi: Air India Express flight from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu to Sharjah landed safely. The plane had developed a technical problem after taking off from Tiruchirappalli Airport.
Due to this, the plane kept circling over Tiruchirapalli city for about two hours. Meanwhile, Air India Express has said that it will investigate the matter. Meanwhile, there was chaos at the airport. Fire engines and ambulances were stationed at the airport.
problem in the hydraulic system
There were about 142 people on board the Air India plane. This plane was going from Tiruchirappalli to Sharjah. The plane took off at 5:40 pm on Friday. But the plane had to land at the same Tiruchirappalli airport at 8 pm. Actually, there was a technical problem in the hydraulics or undercarriage of the plane. Due to this, the plane had to be landed again.
The cockpit master warned
According to NDTV report, this Air India flight was a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. After taking off from Tiruchirappalli airport, the landing gear of the aircraft was retracted normally. However, during this time the cockpit master warned. The sensor revealed that there was oil leakage from the hydrolink system. The undercarriage is controlled by the hydrolink system.
Why did the plane keep flying for two hours?
Aircraft sources said that this Boeing aircraft also has other facilities to deal with such problems in the hydraulic system. However, after this the pilot decided to return to Tiruchirapalli airport. However, keeping the runway in mind, it was decided that an overweight landing would not be done.
This is why the plane hovered over Tiruchirapalli city for about two hours to burn fuel. After this, the undercarriage of the plane was opened manually in the first attempt. After some time, the plane landed normally at Tiruchirapalli airport.
CM Stalin spoke to the officials
Airport Director Gopalakrishnan said that 20 ambulances and 18 fire engines were deployed at the airport for emergency landing. All emergency landing protocols were activated. On the other hand, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin expressed happiness over the safe landing of the plane. He said that it was good to know that the plane has landed safely. The CM said that as soon as I got information about the problem in the landing gear, I immediately held a meeting. I instructed the officials to make all emergency arrangements over the phone.
