Hapur. The authorities have a plan to provide AC helmets to the policemen to protect them from the heat. The department has received AC helmets from a Hyderabad-based company. They are being tested on traffic policemen in Kanpur and Hapur. By wearing these helmets, the temperature of the head and face of the policemen remains low by 10 degrees Celsius.
Policemen in the district have been using these helmets for about 10 days. These helmets are being given to the policemen on different days. According to the policemen, they do not like these helmets. They are complaining of dizziness and nausea after wearing the helmet.
Officials say that after one month of wearing the helmets, feedback from the policemen will be taken. Based on that, a decision will be taken to buy the helmets.
I was feeling unwell in the sun
Policemen in the district as well as in the entire state do their duty standing in the scorching sun. Most of the places where they stand and control traffic do not even have a shade. Many policemen are falling ill due to doing duty in the sun. Recently, the SP had distributed umbrellas to the policemen, but it is not possible for the policemen to do their duty using them.
In such a situation, the department has prepared a plan to provide AC helmets to the policemen. AC helmets have been ordered from a famous company of Hyderabad. This helmet is fitted with AC. It keeps the head, face and back of the neck of the policemen cool.
The helmet has small fans and cooling system
These helmets have small fans and cooling systems. They keep the head of the person wearing them cool. The battery in the helmet runs the fan. Gel packs or evaporative cooling systems have been installed in them to provide cool air. AC helmets are being trialled on traffic policemen. These helmets will be purchased for other policemen only after being successful in this.
It has been 10 days since they started wearing helmets. Police officers are making policemen wear helmets for two days each. A policeman wears an AC helmet for two days, after that it is given to others. The situation is that the policemen who wear these helmets once are not getting ready to wear them again.
The problem is coming
Traffic police constables have failed the helmets in the trials so far. They complain that these helmets are heavy. On wearing them on the head, a kind of smell comes out which causes nausea and dizziness. They are not able to wear the helmet for more than half an hour.
In such a situation, the plan to distribute AC helmets has been postponed for a month. Now they will be trialled for a month. After being successful in the trial, these helmets will be used across the state. So far, they are being used in Kanpur and Ghaziabad.
Currently, trials of AC helmets are going on. These are very useful and keep the head cool up to 10 degrees Celsius. Different feedbacks are coming from the policemen who are wearing them. Some are liking it and some are saying that they do not like it because of its heaviness on the head, tightness and other reasons. In such a situation, we are getting feedback forms filled from every policeman. After receiving feedback from everyone after a month, the data will be analyzed. Based on that, a decision will be taken whether to buy these or not. - Ashutosh Shivam, CO-Traffic.
If the temperature of the head and body remains within 10 degrees Celsius, then the efficiency of the policeman will increase. If it is kept higher than this, then they may fall ill and feel dizzy. Temperature up to 10 degrees Celsius will be healthy. - Dr. Pradeep Mittal, CMS-District Hospital
