News Topical, Digital Desk : Indigo flight going from Delhi to Srinagar faced turbulence due to bad weather. The plane had a lot of trouble flying due to severe storm and hailstorm. After this, the pilot asked for permission for emergency landing from Lahore ATC, but permission was not given by Pakistan

Due to this, the plane had to make an emergency landing in Srinagar. The plane had to descend at a speed of 8,500 feet per minute. DGCA has given this information.

The pilot sought permission from Lahore Air Force Control to use Pakistan's airspace. However, this was refused by Pakistan.

DGCA told what happened?

According to a report from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), IndiGo flight 6E-2142 had to make an emergency landing. It was flying at an altitude of 36,000 feet carrying over 220 passengers, including Members of Parliament, when it got stuck due to bad weather near Pathankot, close to the India-Pakistan border.

"Due to bad weather, the pilot had requested to enter Pakistani airspace but that request was rejected," DGCA said.

Decreased speed of the plane

After this the pilot sent an alert to Srinagar ATC. Immediately all the radars came into active mode and ensured a safe landing.

DGCA's assessment confirms that the aircraft suffered an angle of attack (AOA) defect while law protection was lost. The flight's descent rate reached 8500 fpm (feet per minute) and the crew flew the aircraft in manual mode until they were out of the hail storm.'
