Lakhimpur. The government is taking initiative to provide the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana) to every household. Under this, a target has been set to provide its benefits to 20 thousand consumers in the district. Under this, consumers have also started online registration on the portal. Consumers who install solar power plants will get relief from electricity bills.

Under the scheme, along with 300 units of electricity, consumers are also being given subsidy from the Central and State governments. Domestic consumers can install solar rooftop of 1 to 10 kilowatts of their approved power load.

The consumer will not be eligible for subsidy on installing non-DCR panels, but their applications will also be accepted on the portal. Subsidy will not be payable to commercial consumers. 75 percent subsidy is being given by the central and state governments to domestic consumers with up to one to two kilowatts of power load for installing solar rooftop plants.

This is the estimated cost and subsidy

The estimated expenditure of the beneficiary on setting up a one kilowatt solar rooftop plant is Rs 60 thousand. There is a subsidy of Rs 45 thousand on this. The cost of two kilowatt is Rs 1.20 lakh and that of three kilowatt is Rs 1.80 lakh. There is a subsidy of Rs 90 thousand and Rs 1.08 lakh on this.

The project officer of NEDA says that whoever installs a solar rooftop, arrangements have been made to provide a loan from the bank to the beneficiary registered on the portal. For the installation of a solar rooftop up to three kilowatts capacity, arrangements have been made to provide a loan to the consumer from the banks at an annual interest rate of seven percent. Two companies have been authorized for the district from the UP NEDA headquarters.

Net meter will be installed by replacing electricity meter

After installing the on-grid solar power plant, the consumer's electricity meter is replaced with a net meter. The net meter records the electricity produced daily from the solar power plant. At the end of the month, the electricity bill is prepared by subtracting the solar power reading from the electricity reading from the electricity department. Due to this, the consumer has to pay less in the electricity bill.

10 square meters required

Project Officer NEDA, Kamlesh Singh said that 10 square meters of shadeless roof will be required to install a 1 kilowatt solar power plant on the roof of the consumer's house. The electricity consumer can install an on-grid solar power plant equal to or less than the capacity of his electricity connection. After the installation of the solar power plant, the central and state grants will come to the bank account of the person in whose name the electricity connection is. Consumers of Kheri district who want to avail the benefits of this scheme can apply by visiting NEDA's website https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in/.
