In such a situation, concerns have increased about the safety of Indian citizens stranded in Nepal. 10 businessmen including BJP leader Sunil Tayal from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh are stranded in Nepal's capital Kathmandu.
It is being told that all these people had reached Kathmandu on 7 September to visit Lord Pashupatinath but the very next day i.e. on 8 September, violent protests started there due to the government ban and student protests. In the chaos, everyone's belongings were left in the market and somehow they took shelter in a nearby hotel.
Due to the internet and electricity failure, communication was completely lost. However, on Wednesday (September 10, 2025) morning, the family was contacted through a brief call, in which everyone expressed insecurity and fear.
Anxiety and insecurity are evident
The relatives of the affected traders say that after the violence, the internet and electricity supply in Kathmandu was disrupted, due to which they lost contact. However, they were able to talk to them briefly on phone on Wednesday morning, in which they expressed their panic and insecurity. The relatives say that everyone wants to return to India from Nepal as soon as possible.
Ten people from Muzaffarnagar are stranded in Nepal
People from Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district who are stranded in Nepal's capital Kathmandu include Sunil Tayal (BJP leader), Varun Dhankhar, Ashu Bansal, Ajay Jain, Sushil Tyagi, Bhopal Singh, Pawan Kumar, Kuldeep Singh, Sachin Gupta and Praveen Gupta. Their families have expressed concern.
Minister Kapil Dev gave the details to the Foreign Minister
Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal said that the Chief Minister's Office, District Magistrate Muzaffarnagar and Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar have been informed about the situation. It has also been demanded that they help them. The details of the people stranded in Muzaffarnagar have been given to the ministry.
