News Topical, Digital Desk : Politics is now intensifying over the Women's Reservation Bill. The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to convene a special session of the UP Legislative Assembly on April 30th to address the issue. The proposal was approved by the Cabinet by circulation on Sunday and will be sent to Governor Anandiben Patel on Monday.
The main agenda of the special session of the legislature is to pass a resolution in support of the women's reservation bill and to question the opposition's attitude. On April 30, the Yogi government will clarify its position on the women's reservation issue in the assembly. It will also attempt to corner the opposition parties. There are also discussions about introducing a resolution condemning the opposition's attitude in this session.
Special session on women's reservation
The Bharatiya Janata Party has been aggressively targeting opposition parties since the Women's Reservation Amendment Bill failed to pass in the Lok Sabha. Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the opposition parties over the Women's Reservation Bill, likening their behavior to the disrobing of Draupadi in a public meeting.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the scene inside the House of the INDI alliance—Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC, and DMK—was entirely reminiscent of the scene of Draupadi's disrobing in a full assembly. The kind of irresponsible remarks and behavior made by the opposition and their behavior are no secret.
The session could be very tumultuous.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party is also preparing to corner the government on this issue. The SP is likely to accuse the government of attacking democracy through reservations for women from the PDA community and delimitation. Consequently, this special session could be quite tumultuous. This session is likely to witness intense confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition.
